Shedd is an exciting aquarium in Chicago!

This indoor public aquarium is a must for those in the Chicago-land area. Beautifully structured to ensure visitors can navigate each exhibit with ease, Shedd Aquarium is sure to become a favorite. Here you can come face to face with bluegills, rockhopper penguins, alligators, and more (through the glass, of course)! Well-written signs will explain each enclosure, making it easy to learn more about each exhibit.

Advanced tickets are required, so be sure to book them before you arrive. Book early to make sure you get the date you prefer. Upon arrival, make your way through the various exhibits. Touch tanks, including the Stingray Touch and Stingray Feeding or the Sea Star Touch and Sturgeon Touch, are open seasonally. Check their hours before arriving so you know which one you will be able to see during your visit.

If you plan to attend one of the engaging and educational shows, get seated well ahead of time. These popular experiences can fill quickly. Once the stadiums are filled, no other seating is allowed. Outside of the timed experiences, there are several exhibits you can meander through, including one on the Caribbean Reef, the Amazon, oceans, the Great Lakes, and more.

Shedd Aquarium has designated areas for eating (snacks or meals). If you don't pack your own food, grab something at one of the on-site cafes. A gift shop is also available. Finally, if you're going to multiple Chicago attractions, consider getting a CityPASS to save some money.
