Lake Bemidji State Park is a beautiful state park located on the North Shore of Lake Bemidji.
Those in the area of Bemidji should plan to stop at Lake Bemidji State Park. This gorgeous state park is nestled along the north shore of Lake Bemidji. Withing Lake Bemidji State Park, families can hike, bike, fish, birdwatch, and camp. Not to mention enjoy stunning views of several ecosystems. Then, in the winter, families can hike, snowshoe, cross-country ski, snowmobile, and go ice skating.
Families wishing to bike together will find paved trails, as well as those for mountain biking. Rental bikes are also available first-come, first-served. You will need to bring your own helmet. It's worth noting that the trail connects with the Paul Bunyan State Trail too!
Those hiking should consider the boardwalk path. Take about a one-mile hike to the 1/4 mile boardwalk. Here, meander the path that leads into the bog. Information displays share more about the bog's inhabitants. Those visiting from late May through mid-July will be able to see the best flowers in bloom, including orchids and lady slippers. Kids have plenty of chances to spot wildlife. Lake Bemidji State Park is home to a variety of creatures, including deer, porcupines, squirrels, and a variety of birds. Additionally, those with strollers or wheel-chair users will also find 2-miles of accessible trails.
You can also check out the Visitor Center, which includes a few interpretive exhibits. Check the calendar before you go because naturalist programs are offered throughout the year. There is also a small gift shop.
