Fort Mellon Park and Playground is a great green space right on Lake Monroe when visting Sanford!

Fort Mellon Park is only a few short blocks from historic downtown Kissimmee, which will take you on a trip back in time. The main street is lined with old buildings that feature new names and is about a 10 minute walk to the park. The park offers plenty of parking on side streets, or if you rode the Sunrail commuter train in, take the shuttle over (opeational on weekdays only).

The park features a lot of green space, along with shaded pavilions.  On weekends it can often be seen as a gathering place for festivities. The park's centerpiece is its massive playground with a splashpad next door, pay per person use. The two are not far from each other, so you can easily run back and forth between the two and use your wet clothes on the playground. Either area is lined with pavilions so you can picnic while visiting and make a day of being outdoors!

The park surrounds the shore of Lake Monroe, which is also connected to the St. Johns river, so it's great for a day out boating. There's even a marina nearby where you can rent a boat for a day on the lake!

If you want to take a stroll around the park, you can hit the trail around the lake, perfect for walking, running, or biking! You can also take an easy stroll to downtown Sanford and window shop for the day.

Need a bite to eat? Stop by Hollerbach Willow Tree for a festive German meal and top it off with ice cream and take home treats from Wondermade!  If you're looking for something more, check one of the handful of breweries that call this area home.
