Downey Park, Playground & Splashpad

Heading to east Orlando, you will find Downey Park - a place with baseball fields, picnic pavilion, playground, and splashpad. 

The park is located in route to the University of Central Florida from downtown Orlando, so if you're looking for a place to play in that direction, this is the spot! Upon entering the park, you'll notice that the park is extensive. You'll drive past fields and picnic pavilions, with the furthest most point being the splash pad, witth playground nearby.  There is a parking lot right in front of this area if you plan to situate here. 

The splashpad has a variety of splash toys and water sprayers which makes it for a fun distraction when coming out to this park. There is a restroom facility right outside the splashpad to get changed and picnic pavilion nearby for a lunchtime picnic after play!  The splashpad does charge a minimal fee for use, which you can pay by cash with the attendant. The splashpad is gated with plenty of seating underneath awnings circling the splash pad so you can keep an eye on your kids as they play.  The playground neartby offers your sought after equipement but it is not undercover, so on a hot day may be a little warm to play (and you'll gravitate to the splash pad).

The park also has baseball fields which you can work with the county to use, to make for an even more interesting time out with a fun game of ball!  It is used by local little league so you may have to find time between seasons to get good use out of!

On the farthest point north of the park, you'll also find an off-leash dog park if you want to bring the whole family along! You can also take a stroll around the park to take views of Lake Downey and enjoy all this 47 acre park has to offer! 

Need a bite to eat?  You're a short drive from Alafaya Trail, which is home to many great restaurants, and the Waterford Lakes Shopping Plaza.  There you can find a SuperTarget to stock up on snacks!
